Final Draw Groups A-H
On December 4, 2009 the City of Cape Town – 6pm CET
will welcome 32 national team representatives for the final draw for the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa.
The Host Nation Republic of South Africa will be seeded in Group A as first team to play the opening match on June 11, 2010 in the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg (kick-off time for the opening match is 4pm CET).

Seeding of pots:
Pot 1:
South Africa, Brasil, Spain, Italy, Germany, Argentina, England, Netherlands
Pot 2:
Japan, South-Korea, North-Korea, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Mexico, Honduras
Pot 3:
Ivory Cost, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay
Pot 4:
France, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Greece, Serbia, Denmark, Slovakia
Seeding:
- 8 seeded teams (incl. Host National Team of South Africa)
- 7 teams based on Fifa World Ranking October 2009 (top 5 European + 2 non european teams)
Pots:
- 4 Pots of 8 teams
- Pot 1 – Seeded teams
- Pot 2 – Asia (4), North, Central America + Caribbean (3), Oceania (1)
- Pot 3 – Africa (5), South America (3)
- Pot 4 – Europe (8)
Principles:
- No 2 teams from same Confederation in same group (exception for Europe with max 2 teams in 1 group)
- South Africa – is automatically top seeded in group A – A1
- Seeded teams are automatically assigned position 1 in each group
Procedures:
- Team pots emptied one-by-one, beginning with Pot 1
- Groups filled from A through H
- Positions within Groups A-H to be drawn for teams from Pots 2-4
